Intro to the Darkroom 1 :  The Negatives
Workshop w/ Barb Reimer

Have you ever wanted to learn how to use a real darkroom (or just need a refresher)? Join artist and technician Barb Reimier as she teaches the basics about how to develop your own negatives in PAVED Darkroom Suite (always free for Members to use). Explore the fundamentals of analogue film and Fine Art film developing techniques AND take home your own developed “racetrack” negatives (Barb moonlights as the Photofinish Camera Operator at Marquis Downs Racetrack)! Bring your camera (if you’ve got one) and/or roll of pre-exposed film. Space is limited, so register today!

Barbara Reimer is an artist and technician currently working with installation, photo, and material. Educated in Saskatchewan and Toronto, she is well-versed in historical and contemporary photographic practices and digital technologies. Barbara has been researching and testing the science of developing in coffee since 2007 and is interested in a mobile, “darkroomless” photo practice and travelling with her “darkroom”. She has taken part in solo and group shows in Nicaragua, Toronto, Michigan, and Saskatoon and has attended international residencies at the NES Artist Residency (Iceland) and the Digital Fabrication Residency (beta online group).

Members: $10 (workshop supply fees)
