Art and Vectors: Adobe Illustrator in a fine art practice

Art and Vectors: Adobe Illustrator in a fine art practice

An artist talk by Ed Pas

Art and Vectors: Adobe Illustrator in a fine art practice
Ed Pas is a Saskatoon native who has recently returned after three years overseas. He has used Adobe Illustrator as a graphic design tool since 1988, and as a fine-art medium since 1996.

Ed will talk about how he uses the vector-based imaging program Adobe Illustrator in his art practice, and how it relates to a more general practice that includes painting, assemblage, and sculpture. He will also talk about how his digital practice has affected his work away from the computer, and the feedback loops created by working in a number of seemingly unrelated areas that include traditional and digital media.

PING PONG

Dorkbot presentation:
PAVED Arts
424 20th Street West Saskatoon

Saturday December 9, 1pm
Ping-pong simulations. Facilitated by Tim Dallett

An interactive exploration of how different approaches of interface design model physical activity, using table tennis as an example. Participants will have the opportunity to play and compare physical, 'real' ping-pong, with the 'classical' 1970s/early 1980s Pong video game, a 1990s transmitter paddle-based video game, and contemporary 'high-realism' table tennis video games.
