Cultural Feedback: The relationship between post-modernity and cybernetics

In this lecture, new media artist Peter Redecopp gives an alternate reading of 20th century western art, by tracing the roots of cybernetic theory and contrasting it with our conception of the contemporary artist today. The feedback loop - a fundamental concept in cybernetics - serves as a metaphor for the application of a scientific theory to culture and the liberal arts, a relationship, which is indicative of a pervasive ideology in the 21st century.
Peter Redecopp is a new media artist currently completing his MFA in the Open Media Department of Concordia University in Montreal.
