PAVED arts is excited to announce our spring 2012 schedule of workshops. We encourage all of our producing members to attend as many workshops as possible, and to register or if you have any suggestions for future workshops please send all suggestions and requests to technical@pavedarts.ca.

Canon EOS 7D workshop – Sunday, March 11th, 2012
Host – Nelson Manning
Everyday DSLR style cameras are becoming more and more common for shooting video, and at the forefront of this movement is Canon’s line of EOS digital cameras. This workshop is meant for member’s interested in using the EOS 7D for their video projects and will cover all of the options and considerations that come with using this camera. As well as some tips and tricks for getting the most out of your image.
Final Cut Pro to DVD Studio Pro (Intro) – Wednesday March 21st and Thursday March 22nd, 2012 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
Host – Raj Padmanabh
This workshop is designed for members interested in learning more about Final Cut Pro and how to use it in conjunction with DVD studio pro. After a brief introduction to the layout and tools in the Final Cut interface this workshop will go into detail instructions on how to output your project for various mediums (web, television, etc.), how to appropriately archive your project, and how to use DVD studio pro to maximize your project’s quality and experience.
This Big World Animation Workshop – Saturday March 24th, 2012 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.

PAVED arts is extremely excited to partner with the Regina Filmpool and the NFB to bring Chrystene to our facilities. A master puppeteer and stop motion artist, Chrystene will lead this hands on workshop covering the basics of lighting, character construction, and creative considerations when working in the medium of puppet animation.

ABSYNTH – Thursday April 5th, 2012

The Native Instruments software instrument “Absynth” is a growing favourite amongst both musicians and sound designers and we are happy to present it as a new edition in the Audio Suite for PAVED members. This workshop will cover the basic layout of the software, creative options and tools, as well as how to integrate Absynth into both Pro Tools and Logic.
Colour/Neat Video (Intro) – Saturday April 21st, 2012
Host – Devin McAdam
This workshop will introduce members to Final Cut Studio’s native colour correction software and the video de-noising plugin “Neat Video”. When combined, these two software elements can have dramatic effects over your final video look and quality. Topics that will be covered include input and output workflow, basic functions, and meter/graph understanding.
From Ideas to the Screen – Total Production Workshop –April 24th – 25th 2012 6 p.m. – 9 p.m.
Host – JS Gauthier
This two day workshop is meant for novice video makers interested in learning the basics of all stages of video creation from preproduction to screening. It will cover topics such as basic shooting, video capture, introductory editing/compression, and lastly output authoring. Participants will be asked to create video submissions for a mock film festival at the end of the workshop. Popcorn will be served.
** Participants are encouraged to bring a USB stick (min 2Gb) for saving content.
