Have you tried PAVED arts new large format printer?  Well what are you waiting for?  This workshop is designed to introduce PAVED members to the digital photography suite and empower them with all the knowledge needed to get the most out of your digital prints.  Topics include; photoshop basics, basic printer maintenance and cleaning, paper types, basic colour calibration, and digital image formats.

Classic Professional Super 8mm Camera – February 24th, 2013. 1-4 PM

Instructor: Berny Hi

PAVED arts has a new super 8 camera!  Come learn all the basics from Berny Hi, coordinator of filmpool Regina.  This workshop aims at teaching those new to Super 8 all the important considerations when shooting a project on film.  This workshop is also valuable for those familiar with Super 8mm but interested in getting a first look at the new camera.

Reactive Video LabMarch 2nd, 2013. 1-4 PM

Instructor – J-S Gauthier

The workshop will explore diverse methods of creating interactive or sound reactive video projects using free software (such as Quartz Composer, Quicktime, and Syphon) and low cost electronics like webcams and xbox kinects. The workshop will include the creation of collaborative projects by the attendees facilitated by the artist. Those interested in live video, VJing, and alternative video editing and compositing techniques will surely find some food for thought.

Technical requirements:
-Basic mac literacy (though any interested parties should attend)
-Attendees are encouraged to bring their own (mac) computers.
(with 6 gigs drive space as a minimum).
-Please bring a USB drive with at least 2GB to take home your projects and programs

                                                                                                                                                                                                       

WordPress BasicsMarch 10th, 2013. 1-4 PM

Instructor: Troy Gronsdahl

The WordPress website authoring tool is experiencing massive popularity from artists and organizations looking to create professional looking web content as easily and efficiently as possible.  This workshops aims to get those members new to WordPress started, and also answer questions from members who have experience in wordpress but have run into problems that they can’t figure out.  Topics include: Basic layout, theme integration, media management, and social media connectivity.

                                                                                                                                                                                                         

Generative Music Composition 101: – March 30th, 2013. 1-4 PM

Instructor: Ashton Francis

This workshop will de-/re-construct several Ableton Live sets and examine a variety of ways we are able to compose music which composes itself. From developing ever-changing ambient soundscapes to assembling more traditional song-based structures of various genre, these techniques aim to demonstrate the exciting possibilities of randomized digital sound design.

While having an understanding of Live is recommended, it is not required. Files will be shared with those who wish to work along with the tutorials, and made freely available online beforehand as well. Anyone wishing to have their own material integrated into the workshop is encouraged to bring loops and samples along.
