With the generous support from the Community Initiatives Fund, PAVED Arts is excited to announce “DIY: Direct It Yourself”, a week long music video workshop for youth in our community. The 5 day camp intends to empower and educate youth between the ages of 13-20 years old through a series of educational workshops that teach creative, technical and theoretical aspects of music video production.
Participants will be given the opportunity to choose from a variety of recorded songs generously supplied by a variety of established SK musicians and bands, and collaborate by directing a video for the song of their choice.
Participants will have the opportunity to work with, and receive mentorship from local musicians, artists, and community leaders in a hands-on environment and they will work together to produce music videos and interactive photo/video collages.
Although the goals of this workshop are not results based, the “DIY” workshop will conclude with an official FREE screening of the music videos created during the week on Friday July 7th in the AKA/PAVED Arts event space at 7:30pm.
Beyond leaving the program with a more advanced understanding of storytelling, creative expression, photography, and video production, this program also aims to educate participants in areas such as media literacy and community development.
Camp will take place from 11am-3pm daily, with lunch provided all week!
Participation is FREE and open to anyone ages 13-20.
