An Introduction to Recording with DAWs w/ Duncan Pickard

This workshop will introduce various DAWs (Digital Audio Workstation) and touch on strengths and weaknesses of common DAWs. The workshop will follow the recording process from beginning to end. Information will be presented in a way that isn’t specific to one DAW but focus will be on accessible/free/low cost DAWs.

**This is a beginner workshop with no prior experience necessary.

**A laptop is not required for this workshop but it will benefit participants to bring one.

Duncan Pickard started out making music in their bedroom. In 2012 they began promoting shows and attended the Audio Engineering program at the Recording Arts Institute of Saskatoon. Upon graduating Duncan started The Sound and Silence Collective with a few other graduates. Through recording Duncan began playing live music with Saskatoon bands such as Wizards, Jeans Boots, Shirley & The Pyramids, PotashCorpse. Along the journey Duncan has been recording, DJing, and creating experimental electronic music as Cpt. Pickard. In recent years Duncan has co-founded Grey Records with Lenore Maier and co-founded Nightshirt music festival. During their recording career Duncan became a partner in Workhorse Recording Company and upon the closure of Workhorse they have returned to home recording with better gear than ever.

No experience necessary!

Non-members: $70 (Price of membership at time of registration or $25 for students/underemployed)
