PAVED Arts is seeking applications for the position of Youth Outreach and Community Projects Coordinator. This 4.5-month internship offers a unique opportunity to gain program facilitation experience working directly with youth in our audio recording suite, as well as with emerging and professional artists in Saskatoon.

The successful applicant will be hired by PAVED Arts, an established non-profit, artist-run gallery and production centre, and will work closely with partner organization, Chokecherry Studios; an emerging non-profit organization offering art-based programming to young and emerging artists in the inner-city of Saskatoon.

Under the supervision of PAVED’s Technical Director and Chokecherry’s Principal Director, the Community Projects Coordinator will be responsible for running a series of workshops for a core-group of Chokecherry youth participants and curating their works in a final exhibition co-presented by PAVED Arts and Chokecherry Studios.

Primary Responsibilities
• Conduct necessary research for art-based, youth-centered programming. 
• Prepare weekly activities and/or workshops for youth participants.
• Provide weekly programming to youth one evening per week in our audio suite (Monday-Friday), extending our hours of operation to be more accessible to youth.
• Lead weekly workshops for youth to develop their artistic practice and support the production of completed works that will be compiled into an exhibition co-presented by PAVED Arts and Chokecherry Studios.
• Support and facilitate equipment and facility rentals for Chokecherry youth.
• Maintain regular communication with Chokecherry youth participants. 
• Oversee the curation of art pieces for the final exhibition.

Additional Responsibilities 
• Provide administrative and/or fundraising support to PAVED team.
• Support the installation and promotion of existing exhibitions. 
• Provide day-to-day assistance to the Technical Director in production centre.
• Provide curatorial assistance to the Artistic Director for; Three exhibitions, One artist residency, Five workshops 

Job Qualifications
• The successful candidate must have an interest in audio engineering. Previous audio engineering experience is an asset, but not required.
• The Youth Outreach and Community Projects Coordinator will demonstrate critical thinking, problem-solving and self-motivation while working as part of a team, making contributions to the overall operations of PAVED Arts and Chokecherry Studios throughout the internship.
• As stipulated in our funding requirements, the candidate must be a college or university graduate.
• Ambitions of continuing a career in arts administration, programming or a related field is a basic requirement.
• Experience working with marginalized youth and/or volunteering at youth-serving organizations is an asset.
• The successful candidate shall be subject to a Criminal Record Check, including a vulnerable sector query, as a condition of employment.
• The successful candidate must provide proof of double vaccination for Covid-19.

• Must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident, or have refugee status in Canada.
• Be legally entitled to work in Canada.
• Be under 30 years of age.
• Be a recent graduate who has graduated from college or university.
• Be registered in the YCW online candidate inventory.
• Be willing to commit to the full duration of the work assignment.
• Not have another full-time job while employed in a YCW job.
• Be unemployed or underemployed i.e. not employed full-time.
• Not be receiving Employment Insurance (EI) benefits while employed in a YCW job.
• Not have previously participated in or been paid under a YCW internship or any other Career Focus internships funded under the Government of Canada’s Youth Employment Strategy.

About PAVED Arts
PAVED Arts is a non-profit, artist-run centre for production, presentation, research and dissemination of contemporary media arts. The word PAVED is an acronym signifying the integration of media artforms addressed by our mandate: Photography, Audio, Video, Electronic, Digital. PAVED Arts exists to support artists who work in these media.

Our mandate is to support local, regional and national artists working in the ‘PAVED’ arts by operating an access and production centre for media and new media creation, while simultaneously operating a gallery that exhibits and shares contemporary visual, media and new-media art in time-based, gallery, and off-site programming.

PAVED Arts is located in the heart of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, in the neighbourhood of Riversdale.
