JOB POSTING SUMMARY
PAVED Arts, centrally located in the neighborhood of Riversdale in Saskatoon, is an innovative and dynamic artist-run centre for Photographic, Audio, Video, Electronic and Digital art. We are seeking a talented candidate for the position of Technical Director. 

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Technical Director is responsible for production programs and workshops, equipment access, and technical and production services to PAVED Art’s clientele: Producing Members, visiting artists, collaborators, and partners. The Technical Director will build on PAVED’s rich history as a media arts production centre, its active and committed membership, and diverse and flexible equipment base to develop the organization’s media arts production activities, programs and infrastructure. 

Work Environment:
• This position is based onsite in the PAVED Arts office but due to COVID-19, will provide options to work from home when applicable.
• Some evening and weekend work (in-person and virtual) is required during workshops and other PAVED events.
• Some physical duties are required, including heavy lifting, upon the candidate’s abilities.

Job Term:
• This is a permanent, full-time position at 30 hours per week plus 5 hours of flex time each week. Regular office hours: Monday to Friday from 12-6pm.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
• Experience with contemporary digital media production techniques and practices, with particular relevance to the organization’s software and equipment base, and an emphasis in audio production.
• A demonstrated history of community building, with an established and trusted network of collaborative artists.
• Experience in program development, grant writing and reporting
• Thorough knowledge of digital audio production and video post-production including on-line and off-line editing, mastering, software, hardware, storage and media asset management for a multi-user production facility. 
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, particularly in demonstrating equipment and techniques. 
• Comfortable problem-solving, decision-making and troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with contemporary independent media art practices and artist-run culture.
• Commitment to the development of independent production and to helping artists and facility users advance as creative, competent multimedia producers.
• Experience as a practicing media artist. 
• The ability to effectively prioritize and handle multiple projects and deadlines concurrently. 
• Demonstrated ability for attention to detail. 
• Must be highly reliable, self-motivated, engaging and personable. 
• The ability to work independently and within a team environment.

Primary Responsibility
• Workshop programming
• Management of Production Centre related budgets
• Grant research/writing

• Coordinate Members Micro Grant
• Technical coordination of PAVED Events
• Seek out and foster community organization partners
• Act as ambassador for PAVED Arts
• Public speaking at PAVED Arts events
• Coordinate youth outreach summer program
• Hire, manage and supervise summer students, and other Production Centre interns
• Author monthly board reports describing Production Centre activity
• Manage Production Centre supply of consumables
• Manage Production Centre staff
• Studio artist coordination

Shared Responsibilities
• Assist and train members on equipment and facilities
• Manage event space bookings and events
• Grant research/writing
• Give security orientations
• Provide Production Centre tours
• Coordinating gear rentals
• Research equipment acquisitions for the Production Centre
• Assist gallery in staging exhibitions
• PAVED programming documentation
• Help coordinate PAVED events & fundraising initiatives
• Online management of PAVED membership and Volunteer Hours Log
• Building monthly members’ newsletter (when Communications Coordinator is on holidays)
• Office IT
• Coordinate member volunteering opportunities
• Update and maintain production centre equipment 
• Assist with maintaining Production Centre editing suites and facilities

Tertiary/Intermittent Responsibilities
• Social media/online communications (when Communications Coordinator is away)
• Manage pavedarts.ca website (shared responsibility with all staff – primarily run by Communications Coordinator)
• Production-related graphic design and content creation, in collaboration with the Communications Coordinator.

Skills and Experience
• Media production experience (any experience in the PAVED Arts is an asset)
• Experience working in an audio recording studio
• Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making skills
• Experience working on a team and with a board of directors
• Experience programming workshops
• Event organization and management
• Working with youth and marginalized communities
• Working in the arts and/or non-profit organizations
• Grant writing and reporting experience

This is a full-time position with a 6 month probationary period. Salary to commence at $40,000.00 to start, and increase to $42,000.00 upon completion of the probationary period. The position offers a competitive health and dental plan, matching optional RSP contribution and generous vacation and professional/artistic development time. A successful out-of-town candidate will also be provided with a moving allowance.
