PAVED Arts is seeking applications for the position of Production Coordinator.
This six month internship offers a unique opportunity to gain community engagement experience, work directly with youth and professional artists, and coordinate the programming and presentation of new works created by young and emerging artists in Saskatoon.

The successful applicant will be hired by PAVED Arts, an established non-profit, artist-run gallery and production centre. PAVED Arts is located in the heart of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan in the neighbourhood of Riversdale. The city has a vibrant and active cultural landscape with many museums, public and private galleries, non-profit and community-based cultural centres. Saskatoon is home to a diverse and supportive artistic community.
Job Description:
- The production coordinator will work directly with the Executive, Artistic, and Program Directors of PAVED Arts to provide support with administration, installation and realization of exhibitions and programs at PAVED over the course of the internship. Primary responsibilities will include:
- Assist with exhibition installation and support digital website communications for the organization. The production coordinator will be expected to attend, propose, develop and assist workshops for PAVED Arts’ Membership and members of the community. The production coordinator will also provide support to PAVED’s production centre and presentation space.
- Production centre duties include: assisting with equipment rentals and introducing new members to our production suites. We will be training the Production Coordinator in the most popular technology in our Digital Photo Suite, Video Suite, and Audio Suite. In the photo suite, this includes using our digital printer and scanner to make digital images from analog film. In the video suite, they will be trained on digitizing analog forms of video, making Digital Cinema Package, and colour grading for film. We will also be updating the sound system in the event space to be compatible with wireless audio controls. There will also be training opportunities in a variety of digital skills with visiting artists.
- The Production Coordinator will be learning soft-skills that are part of working in an office including: decision-making skills, conflict resolution, time management, basic math and budgeting, and file management. They will also learn soft-skills involved in customer service through serving our membership in the production center.
Job qualifications:
- The production assistant will demonstrate critical thinking, problem-solving and self-motivation while working as part of a team, making contributions to the overall operations of PAVED Arts throughout the internship.
- Experience in the PAVED Arts (photo, audio, video, electronic, and digital media) Ambitions of continuing a career in arts administration, programming or a related field
- Excellent communication skills, written and oral, are prerequisite, as well as exceptional attention to detail, including proofreading and editing capabilities.
- Experience working with marginalized youth and/or volunteering at youth-serving organizations.
Must also meet all the DS4Y criteria:
- Must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident, or have refugee status in Canada.
- Be legally entitled to work in Canada.
- Between 15 and 30 years of age (at beginning of employment)
- Be willing to commit to the full duration of the work assignment.
- Have completed post-secondary education (i.e. a certificate or diploma)
- Be unemployed or underemployed i.e. not employed full-time.
- is legally entitled to work according to provincial legislation and regulations
