In light of PAVED Arts’ recent photo related acquisitions and equipment upgrades, we would like to offer a series photography based workshops for our members! Local photographer and educator Barb Reimer will lead the workshops, which will cover darkroom practices, lighting essentials and large format printing. Her expertise and technical knowledge will be a valuable experience for any member both beginner or advanced. At the end of the month, PAVED Arts will host an exhibition of the works produced at the workshops. All workshops are free unless otherwise indicated.

Epson 9900 Large Format Printer Workshop, Saturday, May 12, 12-3pm

This introductory workshop will provide an orientation to PAVED Arts’ Epson Stylus Pro 9900 printer.  It will cover introduction to the digital media lab and equipment, as well resolution, file formats, types of paper, ink and print setting associated with the Epson printer. Please bring a file you would like to print in a large format on a thumb drive. Files should be min 300 dpi and a jpg or a photoshop file. Workshop fee is $20 and covers paper and ink. Maximum 4 participants.

Darkroom Practices, Wednesday, May 23, 6-9pm

This workshop will give a detailed introduction to PAVED Arts’ wet darkroom lab. It will cover film and print development with a focus on black and white photography. It will also include safe darkroom practices and setting up chemistry. Maximum 4 participants.

Lighting Essentials, Wednesday, May 30, 6-9pm

This workshop will give members an orientation of PAVED Arts’ photography lighting equipment. It will cover our tungsten and newly acquired strobe light kits. The workshop will orient members with light meter practices, colour temperature, lighting for film and digital cameras as well as camera settings for correct lighting. Members can bring their own digital or analog camera or use PAVED Arts’ Canon 5D or 7D.

Instructor Biography

All workshops will be taught by Barb Reimer. Barb is an accomplished photographer who has exhibited her work nationally and internationally.
