The Canadian Artists’ Representation/Le Front des artistes canadiens (CARFAC) and the Independent media Arts Alliance (IMAA) are engaging in a national community consultation process in order to evaluate their individual fee schedules in relation to the needs, practices and activities of the Canadian media arts community. The goal of this community consultation process is to propose a harmonized fee schedule structure for media artists.
A series of 7 focus group sessions will be taking place across Canada in April 2016. The purpose of these focus group sessions is to gather specific input from artists and organizations in the media arts community regarding their current practices and needs in relation to the payment of artists’ fees. Information has already been collected via surveys for media artists and media arts organizations. Survey respondents are encouraged to participate in focus group discussions to contribute additional detail, however focus group participants are not required to have responded the surveys.
Results of this community consultation process will be announced in the spring at IMAA’s and CARFAC’s respective AGMs. For more information, please contact Emmanuel Madan, IMAA National Director (dir@imaa.ca) or Marcia Lea, CARFAC National Acting Executive Director (marcia@carfac.ca).
