Produced by the City of Saskatoon in partnership with PAVED Arts. This call is open to all Saskatoon-based video, film or media artists.
We are looking for short video or film works to be screened as a part the 2017 Culture Days festivities: Saturday, September 30th at 8pm. Selected works will be projected onto the west facing pier of the Senator Sid Buckwold (Idylwyld) Bridge, visible from the west side of the South Saskatchewan River. On-site video projector and audio speakers will be assembled for the screening.
The theme for I Am The Bridge IV is “Reflections.” We encourage applicants to consider how their work reflects the city in which they live or the experience of daily life. In short, the theme for I Am The Bridge IV is wide open to interpretation, we simply want to see your work as both a figurative reflection of being an artist in Saskatoon and a literal reflection upon the South Saskatchewan river! Short video pieces made in specific relation to this call will be considered alongside of older works. All submissions will be presented to a community jury whose decisions on the program composition are final. I Am The Bridge IV is an open event and free to the public, as such work may be declined if the community jury deems it inappropriate for all ages.
Screening fees will be paid for those works selected.
All interested artists should apply with the following:
Accepted support material format: NTSC (Quicktime file, .mov, H264 codec) delivered on a Data DVD, must be in ISO cross-platform (Windows or Mac) format, or USB thumb-drive. Electronic submissions can be accepted by Dropbox or WeTransfer.
8 mm and 16mm Film works are welcome but must be transferred to video and submitted in the above format.
Works of 15 minutes or less will be considered.
Vimeo or Youtube link submissions are welcome.
A short artist statement about your video piece (not to exceed 200 words).
Applications must be received no later than Friday, September 1st, 2017, at 5pm.
